I am Juana, wife to Richard, mom to many, and Baba to 12 wonderful people.
My
interest in eating healthy began early in my life. When we married,
that interest continued as I read many books, attended seminars,
workshops, lecutres, and classes about a wide variety of natural health
related areas, one of which was food.
As I fast forward
through the years, we ate a lot of organic food, usually making food
from scratch, using whole foods, and experimenting with foods along with
enjoying foods from many cuisines around the world.
Early
in the new century, "raw food" came across my path. I was intrigued
and started looking into it and then let it go by the wayside. A dear
friend soon after gave me a copy of Hallelujah Acres magazine, and my
interest was peaked again.
I attended Raw Rose
Culinary Arts "Raw Retreat" weekend in the spring of 2009, and followed
that by enjoying 6 weeks of being 100% raw. I returned in the summer of
2011 to Raw Rose's Culinary Arts Institute where I completed the Raw
Chef Certification program.
We lived in Moose Jaw, Sk
at this time and was surprised how well the classes and my offerings at
the local Farmer's Market on River Street were received.
Now
we are living back in the Fraser Valley where I am setting up shop. I
have a designated kitchen in our home that is just for Baba's Raw
Kitchen and where I will be holding raw food classes. I can be found at
Farmers Markets and other events around Vancouver and the Lower
Mainland with delicious nutrient dense food for your enjoyment and good
health.
